Janelle Adsit is a poet, essayist, and teacher of creative writing. She is an assistant professor of English at Humboldt State University where she teaches creative writing, environmental writing, and literary publishing. She is affiliated faculty in the Environmental Studies B.A. program and the Environment & Community graduate program at HSU. She holds a PhD from SUNY-Albany.
Her research focuses on creative writing pedagogies, environmental justice, art and activism, and critical university studies. Articles have appeared or are forthcoming in Feminist Formations and New Writing, and collections such as Creative Writing in the Digital Age and Creative Writing Innovations. Her works include the poetry collection Unremitting Entrance and a chapbook titled Press Yourself Against a Mirror.
